Small Town Girl
Marilla Mulwane grew up and remains in a small town in upstate New York. Upstate New York is the massive amount of land northwest from New York City. If you have no idea what she's talking about, here’s a map:
Marilla's hometown is tiny. There is one main street and no stoplights. There are too many churches to count, and while there is only a population of about 3000, the churches keep growing in size although there aren’t people to fill them.
It is a beautiful place to live. The rolling hills, the sprawling forests, and the winding rivers sit right outside the door. When she gets tired of the quiet country, larger cities are a short drive away. Perfection.

College Days
Marilla Mulwane spent her college days at SUNY Oneonta. For a small college, it is widely regarded as one of the best low-cost schools in the country. She studied English and Creative Writing with some of the kindest professors. Since SUNY Oneonta is small, she had the pleasure of working with them again and again in several courses. The school doesn’t have much claim to fame. A couple of famous actors got their start at Oneonta - Bill Pullman and Gary Sinise. Also, some dude from Gym Class Heroes? Someday, Marilla will be on this list.
Book Collector
Marilla loves books. The real deal. Pieces of paper held together by cardboard. She loves the smell of old books, even when they make her sneeze. Her books must always be proudly displayed, while her shoes are just tossed haphazard in the closet. The problem with displaying her wordy babies is the space requirement. “I need more shelves,” is a common sentence in Marilla's house. Who needs furniture? Just make shelves into furniture.
Crafty, Crafty
Marilla likes being crafty. She enjoys making things. She can’t knit, sew, or crochet, but she can do origami and loves wowing people with the tiniest widdle cranes. Aren’t they just so cute?
Marilla's idea of crafting is to take something and make it into something new. It’s called “upcycling,” but that just makes her think of riding a bike up a hill. Marilla calls it “making garbage useful again” or “too poor and cheap to start from scratch.” She gets ideas, or her bestie gets ideas, and then they are in trouble. They have to make that idea real. They have to make it. They must. What they often get is something far from the image in our minds, but the process of trying is fun and really what it’s all about.
Girl Who Plays Video Games
Marilla Mulwane is a girl that games. She is not a “gamer girl,” teehee. She spends too many hours playing video games, yelling at the TV, and calling anyone who beats her terrible names. Yes, even if they beat her in Rock Band. Marilla will laugh at people who think playing Angry Birds makes them gamers, but she will get angry with people who tease her for my inability to shoot properly in video games. FPS games are overrated anyway.
Marilla will forever love Dance Dance Revolution for helping her lose weight and the many hours spent at exhausting, sweat-covered, caffeine fueled DDR parties of the past. Fun times. Fun times.

Animal Lover
Marilla Mulwane love ratties. She loves their tails.
Pets. Marilla has had many pets. From cats, dogs, rats, gerbils, bunnies, fish, mice, guinea fowl, frogs, lizards, and a turkey. Ah yes, Franklin the turkey. That turkey was in love with her. He would rub her leg with his head whenever she was around and sit on her lap. Marilla thinks she created that bond by carrying him around in a soft bag when he was a baby.
Marilla had a pet worm, once. She had him for all of a day before he dried up and died.
